Let’s be real: Creating content takes time and energy. But if your posts aren’t turning into leads or sales, it’s not because your offer isn’t good, it’s because you’re missing two critical steps in your content strategy.
❌ You’re speaking to the solution too early
❌ You’re not addressing your audience’s false beliefs
Both are deal-breakers when it comes to selling through content. Let’s break them down.
Here’s the thing: Most of your online audience is in the Problem-Aware stage of the Buyer Journey.
👉 They know they have a problem (example: not making sales).
👉 But they don’t yet know the best solution exists, or why your offer is it.
If you jump straight into promoting your program, course, or service by shouting:
“Here’s the perfect solution! Buy this now!”
… they’ll scroll right past.
Why? Because they don’t even realize they need that solution yet.
💡 Educate before you sell.
Your job as a content creator and marketer is to guide your audience step by step:
Speak to the problem they’re experiencing in real terms.
Show them what’s possible once the problem is solved.
Slowly bridge the gap toward your offer as the logical next step.
👉 In practice: Create content that proves you’re useful, provides real value, and builds trust. Lead them from Problem-Aware → Solution-Aware.
Even when people know they have a problem, they’re often stuck with false beliefs about what will fix it.
Here’s an example:
Pain Point: Not making sales from her content.
False Belief: “I’m not making sales because I don’t have enough followers. If I just grow my account, sales will come.”
Wrong Action (based on the false belief): Spending hours on trends, lip-sync reels, engaging on other people’s posts.
Result: Still no sales, despite all the effort, leading to frustration and burnout.
The truth?
👉 The follower count isn’t the problem. What she really needs is to understand her audience’s pain points and desires, and communicate in a way that positions her as the go-to solution.
💡 Shift their beliefs.
Your content should directly address these false beliefs and reframe them. Show your audience:
Why their current approach isn’t working.
What the better way looks like.
How your offer helps them take that better path.
👉 In practice: Create advice-based content that challenges their old way of thinking while positioning you as the authority who knows the shortcut to results.
You can’t sell a solution to someone who doesn’t know they need it.
To sell with content, you must:
1️⃣ Educate your audience at the problem stage.
2️⃣ Shift false beliefs that keep them stuck.
3️⃣ Guide them naturally toward your solution.
Do this consistently, and you’ll notice your content moving people closer to a “yes”, without feeling salesy or pushy.
